PhatWare Renames HPC Notes To PhatNotes, Adds PhatPad, Outlook 2003 Support

Three-Time Pocket PC Magazine 'Best Notes Software' Winner Includes New Graphics, Improved Performance And Reliability

LOS ALTOS, CA - March 8, 2004 - PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, today announced that HPC Notes, the company's award-winning notes organization tool for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and desktop PCs, has been renamed PhatNotes. The new name reflects the product's move away from the Handheld PC segment and toward users of Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices.

In addition to the name change, PhatNotes now includes a number of productivity improvements, including support for Microsoft Outlook 2003 and PhatWare's PhatPad ink-based notes organizer. The application also features new graphics and other visual and performance enhancements to make note management easier and more enjoyable.

"PhatNotes has found an incredible customer base among Pocket PC users. As this audience grows, it makes sense to direct this product with a new name and focus," said Stan Miasnikov, President of PhatWare Corporation. "Despite the name changes, all the popular features of HPC Notes remain the same. We're simply taking an excellent product and preparing it for even better functionality in the future."

"Windows Mobile was designed to be a robust platform that provides opportunities for Microsoft's industry partners to help create new and innovative mobile applications and services," said Julie Wymetalek, manager of the Mobility Partner Advisory Council (MPAC) at Microsoft Corp. "PhatWare's HPC Notes distinguished itself as a useful and popular note organizer, and we applaud the company as it continues to make PhatNotes an excellent tool for busy professionals and others on the go."

PhatWare's PhatNotes, like its predecessor, will be available in Lite, Standard, and Professional versions. The application allows users to create notes and organize them by type, subject, creation date, or modification date, and includes other powerful user features such as the ability to send email messages without leaving the program.

Adding to PhatNotes' convenience is its ability to synchronize notes located in multiple databases, as well as its support for other PhatWare products such as CalliGrapher, the company's leading handwriting recognition product. By supporting PhatPad and CalliGrapher, users of all three products can now create notes including drawings and handwritten notes in PhatPad, convert them to text using CalliGrapher, then access and organize them using PhatNotes.
